  10. 'The new Bad Boys of Rock & Roll'. That's the surname of the American group
  11. Guns 'n' Roses, founded in 1985 by ex-band members of London and LA. Guns.
  12. Within a short time they release their first E.P., "Live like a Suicide" on an
  13. independent label. But they have to play in clubs and bars for two more years
  14. before Geffen gives them a contract. Most record companies were only looking
  15. for glam-rock bands, and Guns 'n' Roses are not excactly a glam-band. All band
  16. members have played in punk bands, as is shown by the debut album "Appetite for
  17. Destruction". This album is released in 1987 and is a mixture of fast rock with
  18. punk and sleazy blues ingredients. The lyrics go about the streets of L.A. and
  19. cocaine. They don't just sing about it, they also get often accused of using
  20. cocaine and heroin, and in 1987 they have to leave England and Japan, because
  21. of misbehaviour. Also the cover, that shows a raped girl, is not tolerated in
  22. many countries. This all doesn't hold them back from becoming a top act in
  23. America and also in Europe they got a hit with "Sweet Child o' Mine". The
  24. success is followed by a mini-LP, "Lies".
